“R18 million in unpaid taxes”: SARS goes after popular artist Zonke Dikana

Singer, producer, and songwriter Zonke Dikana is making news due to her tax issues with the South African Revenue Service.

SARS GOES AFTER ZONKE DIKANA

According to confirmed reports, she owes the SARS approximately R18 million in unpaid taxes. According to ZiMoja, Zonke Dikana has struggled to pay her taxes throughout the years.

A source told ZiMoja, “Cracks, and she defaulted.” This type of situation can easily happen to artists because they are self-employed and get paid for gigs per invoice.”

Surprisingly, her tax issues arise just after she purchased a stylish Bentley and Mercedes-Benz V-Class for tours.

The cheapest Bentley is priced at R1.8 million, while the majority of Bentleys are priced at R4.5 million in multiple shops throughout South Africa.

However, some stores offer Zonke Dikana’s reported V-Class for a starting price of R2.2.

According to rumours, she is aware of the offenses and has contacted SARS. Since then, SARS and the musician have agreed to make installment payments.

“The problem isn’t that she defaulted, but that the taxman couldn’t reach her. The situation should have been settled years ago, but she was unavailable, and her debt grew with charges,” ZiMoja stated.

The cheerful vocalist was not available for comment at the time of publishing. She joins a slew of South African celebrities who have been involved in tax disputes with SARS.
