“It was emotional”: Actor Katleho Mabote on his Showmax’s Youngins performance

Former Outlaws star Katleho Mabote discusses his role as Tokollo in Showmax’s Youngins.

KATLEHO MABOTE:’IT FELT SURREAL’

Katleho Mabote plays a sweet and naive Grade 8 student at Olifantsfontein High School in the film Youngins.

Mabote tells Showmax that appearing in the drama series was an answer to prayer.

“When I found out I’d be playing Tokollo, it was bizarre, like an out-of-body experience. Many performers dream of appearing on Youngins, and for me, it was an answered prayer.”

When asked how he made his role memorable, the actor says he meticulously researched his character and combined Tokollo’s characteristics with his own personality.

“I saw a lot of similarities between us, so I brought my A-game to ensure Tokollo stood out to both the cast and the viewers.”

“Although I’m 20 and no longer in high school, I aimed to make my portrayal relatable as a young man navigating high school life,” the actor tells me.

He also says that Tokollo is an easy guy to relate to. He is the class clown, making everyone laugh.

The emerging star is also renowned for his initial appearance as Mosa in Outlaws and his role as TK in 016FM.
